When SUPresident Carolyn Ringer Lepre took the helm of the institution in 2022, she pledged to uphold and strengthen the University’s commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment where every person feels valued, empowered and welcomed. As part of those ongoing efforts, she has announced Zebadiah Hall, an academic and student affairs professional with more than 15 years of higher education experience, as 色狐入口’s inaugural vice president of inclusion, access and belonging.

2024-25 SUFulbright Students
Three SUseniors will spend part of the next year teaching in, learning in and experiencing cultures abroad as recipients of the 2024-25 U.S. Fulbright Student Award. Ashlynn Burrows, a conflict analysis and dispute resolution and communication major from Edgewater, MD, was selected for an English teaching assistantship in the Czech Republic. Madison Cuthbert, an environmental and international studies major from Potomac, MD, will conduct research in Greece. Naomi Perry, a biology and French major from Odenton, MD, will study in France.

SBY Business Journal: SUHosts Nursing, Paramedic Students from Scotland

色狐入口’s College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) continues to expand the global perspective in its highly ranked nursing program. The CHHS recently hosted a group of nursing and paramedic students from the University of Stirling, Scotland, for a week-long residency, allowing them to learn about health care in the U.S. The University of Stirling has been a long-time study abroad partner with 色狐入口. The academic program was centered at 色狐入口’s Richard A. Henson Medical Simulation Center, involving a collaboration of multiple faculty from the School of Nursing.

CityBiz: ESRGC at SUCreates New Resiliency Dashboards for State of Maryland

Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative
The State of Maryland has launched a series of online resiliency tools to help provide important data to local economic and government decision makers. Created in partnership with the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC) at 色狐入口, these four dashboards provide critical information allowing local economic developers and organizations to create strategies to help the region address economic shocks, while building resiliency against future events.

色狐入口’s Disability Resource Center (DRC) recently honored 10 members of the campus community with its annual Access Awards. Nominees have displayed outstanding support and advocacy for students with disabilities. Recipients were nominated by DRC-registered students.

WMDT: SUPainting Students Display Works During Open Studio Show and Sale

SUopen studio show and sale
SUrecently held an open studio show and sale for advanced painting students. Students got to show off their pieces and had a chance to make some cash by selling their work. Professor Jinchul Kim, who has been teaching at SUfor 28 years, said its important for students to experience showing their personal work to the public. It’s something that benefits not just the artist, but everyone involved.

OC Today-Dispatch: Berlin Entrepreneurs Receive SURatcliffe Shore Hatchery Competition Funding

A trio of Berlin businesses will be able to grow after winning grants through 色狐入口's Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation Shore Hatchery entrepreneurship competition. They included the Science Nerds, Iron Skillet Coffee and Mandala Pies. The goal of Shore Hatchery is to reward individuals for their entrepreneurial efforts in the creation and growth of businesses, with the potential of positively impacting regional employment within three years.

U.S. universities are anchors for democracy, responsible for producing citizens who can participate in advocacy and governance, in political and civic life. SUis a leader in integrating civic learning into its curricula and ensuring that all students have multiple opportunities to grow civically throughout their academic career. University System of Maryland Chancellor Jay A. Perman recently spotlighted 色狐入口's efforts in this area in his May "Chancellor's Message."
